Third Annual International Festival of Fort Bend – We Are One!
Fall Event to Showcase New Features

A Brides of the World fashion show, Houston Rockets cheerleaders, a children’s native costume show and more entertainment will be part of this year’s 3rd Annual International Festival of Fort Bend (IFFB). The free admission event is set for Oct. 17 at the Stafford Performing Arts Centre, 10505 Cash Road, and it will kick off with the National Anthem and a spectacular indoor parade of nations at 11 a.m.

“This is a high energy, fun filled event with food, costumes, music and activities from many different countries to celebrate the We Are One family theme,” states 2009 IFFB President, Nazy Khadivian. “All of the program is being set up by volunteers, who have been working for several months now,” she adds. Organizers are expecting this year’s attendance to be over the 10,000 mark. Khadivian invites Fort Bend residents and their families to be a part of this exciting celebration showcasing the cultural diversity of the local community.

The Bahais’ of Sugar Land will be on site collecting non-perishable food for the Fort Bend Human Ministry Food Pantry. “Come be a part of this global experience under one roof and enjoy the history of the world’s rich history right here in our own backyard,” invites Khadivian.

Individual and group performers, singers, musicians, and a cast of accomplished talent will be a part of a colorful brilliance and entertaining show. Arts and crafts, food, exhibits, home furnishings, jewelry and “just about a little bit of everything” will be on hand. The event will culminate with an evening program running from 8 – 11 p.m. It will include a diversity of influences featuring East Asian performances with Indian, Pakistan, and Nepal dancers donning traditional attire. The beautifully choreographed performers will dance to the influences of East Asian-inspired acts. Ticket prices for the evening performance are $5 per person.

The IFFB is a non-profit organization consisting of volunteers whose intention is to share the rich cultural diversity of Fort Bend County with the community. This civic asset is accomplished with the celebration of the multi-ethnic communities enabling others to enjoy and experience the music, dance, foods and arts of different cultures. IFFB was created in 2007, when it hosted its first international festival. Since then it has enjoyed a growing following of committed individuals sharing their cultures of origin with others in the area.

The IFFB is co-sponsored by the Sugar Creek Baptist Church, Tara Energy, BAPS Shi Swaminarayan Mandir, FTS Solutions, Inc, Organizations of Chinese Americans, DS Waters of America, Sam’s Club-Stafford, McDonald’s, Babies R Us, First Colony Community Association, METRO, Danny Nguyen Commercial, Madras Pavilion, Udipi Cafe and the Cities of Missouri City, Stafford and Sugar Land. It is also supported by Houston Community College and many local business and community organizations.

“This will truly be a display of our unity, our diversity and our oneness,” promises Khadivian.
